Beating Egg Whites Like a Pro

Getting those egg whites just right is the secret to super fluffy waffles! Start with room temperature eggs and make sure your bowl is completely clean and dry. Beat them slowly at first until they’re foamy, then increase the speed.

You’ll know they’re ready when you lift your beater and the peaks stand straight up without flopping over. Take your time with this step – it’s what makes Belgian waffles so special!

Simple Swaps

Want to switch things up? You can use whole wheat flour for half of the all-purpose flour to add some nutty flavor. The recipe works great with any type of milk – try almond milk for a slight nutty taste or oat milk for extra creaminess.

If you’re watching your fat intake, applesauce can replace half of the oil. Just keep in mind that any changes might make your waffles a tiny bit different from the classic version.

Topping Ideas

While maple syrup is always wonderful, these waffles are perfect for getting creative! Try fresh berries and a dollop of yogurt for breakfast, or go all out with ice cream and chocolate sauce for dessert.

Love something savory? These waffles taste amazing with fried chicken on top! For a quick breakfast, spread some peanut butter and sliced bananas on top. The possibilities are endless!

Storage and Reheating

Made too many waffles? Lucky you! Let them cool completely, then pop them in a zip-top bag and freeze for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to eat, just toast them until they’re hot and crispy again. You can also keep them in the fridge for 2-3 days. To bring back that crispy outside, warm them in your toaster instead of the microwave.
